After starting to show signs of coming back to himself recently, the Rhino made some fantastic progress this weekend.
Fri - 1st Friday KO - A good semi final here with a close 3-4 defeat to Mr Smooth in the later stages also a 3-0 win over Ian Macfarlane showing some form.
Sat - The Cannock Open - A good solid start and a couple of early wins led to a last 16 encounter with Mick Todd, as D16 ers will now Mick is a great chap and a sometime practise partner of Mark Ryan and the guys. It is always a pleasure to see him, although The Rhino would probably like to see less of him in the round before the money! Mick edged a good game 3-2 before going on to the semi finals.
Sunday - The Derbyshire Open - This was a very good event and a tough field with over 130 turning out. Ryan started well with a 3-0 win and was just about to play again when the system crashed and 1 hours delay ensued. Superbly after the break Rhino kept his head and edged a tough game for both players. he then took out 110 with his opponent sat on a double for a 3-2 win from 0-2 down to head into the last 16.a 1-3 defeat here was unfortunate although full credit to his opponent who Ryan says played very strongly and did'nt give anything away.
Still £25 for a last 16, plus £40 for a semi and a good day out in between bodes well for our Rhino! great to see him both in form and in the money! Not just the wins though, Ryan looks to have regained some self belief and focus. I am pleased to report a Rhino return!
