the taylor v nicholson semi was superb , final a big let down

suppose bdo lovers will say a close game so was good

personally if im watching pros i need a bit more than that

Dull ?????? What game were you watching mate???

The best matches are the ones full of drama - its not always about 118 averages and 10 nil whitewashes - the missed doubles, stray darts under pressure etc all add to the excitement for the viewers AND the players - just ask them.

i know plenty of fans who turned off . sorry but pro darts is about high averages and good finishes
if u want missed doubles and poor averages then watch bdo darts

dont want that sort of crap in the pdc

I've no idea what the averages were. But I must say, the atmosphere was very flat during the final. Had it been King v Taylor, do you think it could have been a tad more rowdy?

You are of course entitled to your opinion noisy - but remember this is a darts forum and post need to be in the spirit of the sport - no need to get personal with another D16 member who happens to have a differing opinion.

You are obviously very anti BDO - and many people will agree with you (including me on some points) that the BDO needs radical overhaul to bring it into line with the current expectations of the mass darting audiences expectations.#

However there are many PDC players who dont meet your criteria of super averages and big chekouts, if you extend your acceptable level of darting ability to other sports - for example football as you mentioned it - there woudl only be about 6 teams in the Premiership and everything else would be amateur.

Of course there is always the desire to having the sporting elite - in the PDC perhaps only 16 players would make a good Premier League but darts also needs a feeder system whether in be BDO, youth or non tour card PDC players

In my case I like to watch and support darts at all levels as it is the only way the game will actually survive.

Interesting thread....

You all know my opinions by now. I Loved the PDC coverage over christmas and was very disappointed by the coverage courtesty of the BBC of the darts immediately afterwards.
Now for me, the Circus Tavern just did not live up to the expectations set by the previous PDC tournament. The venue looked small by comparison and as such the crowd were less of a 'factor'.

As for the standard of the darts.... Taylor was maybe a couple of points away from his blistering best, but look at the other pro players lining up to have a crack at him now!!! All achieving around 100 averages and some a little more..

It is all good stuff... but at the end of the day did I enjoy the final... well to be honest - not as much as the semi.

Agreed - the BDO is the proving ground where those that want to aspire to the professional rank ply their trade. When and if they reach the standard necessary ( and I would contest that there are a few that are capable right now as there has to be in any system of this sort) they can then chance their arm in the PC and see if they can make the big money. However - as for the spectacle of watching darts, there is indded plenty more to be enjoyed apart from towering averages and somewhere down the line I know you must have taken a sharp intake of breath along with the rest of us when one of the pros missed a double under pressure...

i think most people wanted a taylor v king final due to the anomosity between the two .

saying that if king had played like he did he would have got his ass whipped

must say even though im a big taylor fan i do like nicholsons attitude

well except the being friendley to mervyn bit at the end

True - part of the dissappointmet for me was that I didnt get to watch the Taylor / King final that I wanted... But fair play to Nicholson and huge amounts of bottle (and that 170 finish while Taylor was staring at 32.... )
